For the setup to this post, see yesterday’s post.
- I admire the reverence for the Bible in the Protestant tradition. One of the priests on the panel said that he admired the “devotional life” of Protestants, who daily read/study/memorize Scriptures. I concur. I like that Protestants hold the Bible up over tradition.
- I admire the evangelical passion of many Protestants. There is a fervency in the proclamation of the Good News that can be muted in other traditions.
- I admire the entrepreneurial spirit of the Protestant church. Precisely because it doesn’t have a 1500 year tradition, the Protestant church keeps reinventing itself, in an ongoing effort to connect to the next generation.
- I admire the emphasis on “the priesthood of all believers,” and thereby a “low” view of clergy.
