Riding the Wave (or, perhaps, not)

Let’s talk about reading for a minute.

I think it’s pretty well established, if you know me, or read this blog, that I like to read widely.  And yet, there are these seasons of life, were I just feel very little motivation to read.  I’m in one of these right now.  I have all these good books piled up on my shelf, but for the last couple of weeks I’ve just looked at them and thought, “meh.”

I think this is typical.  I think most of us grow in spurts.  It’s why I told a friend of mine today, when she called to ask for a book recommendation, to “ride the wave.”  She told me she’s read several books in the last couple of weeks and is just hungry to get her hands on more stuff.  So I recommended a couple books that I think would interest her, and encouraged her to go hard while she’s hungry for it.

Meanwhile, for me, I’m sure it will come back.  It always does.

  1. I think go through seasons when it comes to book reading… and I think there are specific (“ordained” if you will) times that we read certain books.
